MLA launches work of two culverts at Cortalim

VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Saturday launched the work of reconstruction of two major culverts along the main roads at Consua, Cortalim, one near KRC railway gate and another near Consua Church.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA expressed happiness that the reconstruction work of the two major culverts commenced as it posed great risk to the commuters passing through this road.

The cost of reconstruction of both culverts is Rs 77 lakh and the work is awarded to contractor M/s C K George and Sons.

Saldanha thanked Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar for rendering their support to execute these much needed works. She also thanked Amstrong Fernandes, assistant engineer and Gaurish Naik, junior engineer of PWD, who were present.

Fr Pedro Costa, parish priest of Consua Church expressed happiness that these works are starting and on behalf of the villagers thanked the government and especially MLA Saldanha for taking up these much needed works on urgent basis for the benefit of the residents of the village of Consua.

Fr Pedro Costa blessed the works after a prayer service in the presence of Village Panchayat of Cortalim Sarpanch Senia Pereira, Panchas Angela Furtado, Pratap Naik, Agustinho Menezes and Manuel Silva and General Secretary Cortalim BJP Mandal Achut Naik.
