MLA, officials inspect water tank near Marcaim Industrial Estate

Inspection comes following complaints from locals of facing acute water shortage

PONDA: Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday along with water supply Executive Engineer Nivruthi Parsekar, Manoj Naik and panchas of Marcaim Panchayat inspected 1400 cubic metre capacity water storage tank near Marcaim Industrial Estate.

The inspection comes following complaints from Marcaim villagers that they are facing acute water shortage for the past few months

Dhavalikar discussed the issue with engineers with Nivruthi Parsekar stating that there may be technical problem due to which locals are not receiving water supply on time. He assured to look into matter.

Later addressing media persons, Dhavalikar said, “Opa has 140 MLD capacity water treatment plant, but after commissioning the additional 27 MLD Plant at Opa, 15 MLD at Mysal Dam, and 10 MLD at Sanguem, Ponda has now almost 50 MLD of surplus water. After releasing 15 MLD to Tiswadi, Ponda still has 35 MLD and so there should not be any difficulty in receiving water to Marcaim and Ponda taluka.”

He said, “Water shortage is caused due to technical difficulties. The tail end of village needs high water pressure to reach at every household.”
