PONDA: After inspecting the culvert at Nagzar-Curti, which is in a dilapidated state, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik and the locals demanded that the WRD or the PWD should reconstruct it at the earliest.

Ravi Naik said “The 40-year-old culvert has become weak as its iron rods have been exposed. The culvert needs to be repaired urgently as heavy vehicles are plying on and it could collapse any moment. PWD should take this work on urgent basis. Besides, the culvert serves as a short cut to Ponda Market for Housing Board residents and Curti locals.”

Recently the PWD had approved the construction of the culvert at Curti on Ponda main nullah, but since this work cannot be undertaken at this stage, he said and asked the PWD to transfer and utilise the said tender money to reconstruct Nagzar culvert, which is in dilapidated condition.

The Ponda MLA along with locals of Nagzar, sarpanch Shailesh Shet, panch Dadi Naik, councillor Ritesh Naik inspected the culvert.

It is pertinent to note that the culvert on Ponda main nullah located at Nagzar, Curti is in dilapidated condition with its iron rods exposed. The plaster of slab has peeled off and the culvert may collapse any moment. Since trucks and other vehicles ply on it, the locals fear that it may collapse any time.
