MLA slams govt for recurring water woes

Thivim MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar has criticised the BJP-led government for failing to find a solution to the water woes in the State and provide regular water supply to the villagers in his constituency. Halarnkar said that many wards in Thivim were not receiving regular water supply. “For the past two years, the chief minister and PWD minister have been promising 24/7 water supply, but they have not been able to fulfill this promise, so far. The BJP government and its allies have to be blamed for the severe water crisis that some parts of Bardez are suffering from,” he said addressing media persons on Thursday. “From mid-October to the first week of December, the maintenance work of the Tilari irrigation canal is carried out and the government officials are aware of this as it is a yearly affair. But they have not made alternate arrangements for supplying water,” he pointed out.
“Even the water being supplied through tankers is not sufficient to meet the acute water crisis affecting Thivim constituency and certain parts of Bardez. The government officials should be held responsible for this,” Halarnkar said.
