BENAULIM: Benaulim NCP MLA Churchill Alemao has urged his constituents not to get misled by his political opponents protesting against the proposed 14-bedded health centre on the government Provedoria land, at Benaulim.
Speaking to the media persons, Churchill recalled his election assurances made to the Benaulim voters of constructing a 14-bedded health centre similar to the one he had built in the neighbouring Navelim Constituency when he was elected as the Navelim legislator.
Stating that ‘Health is Wealth’ and attacking the protestors as ‘rotten mangoes’ for supposedly ‘misguiding’ the Benaulim villagers, Churchill reiterated that the villagers of Seraulim, Colva, Benaulim, Varca, Orlim, Carmona and Cavelossim in the Benaulim Constituency who have to visit the far flung health centres situated at Cansaulim and Chinchinim, respectively would benefit immensely from a health centre situated in Benaulim that would also have a dialysis facility.
Churchill urged his Benaulim constituents not to trust the protestors and further alleged that action was being taken against the illegalities committed by these protestors and narrated the sequence of events resulting in the Benaulim Panchayat passing an unanimous resolution in favour of the proposed 14-bedded health centre on the Provedoria land in Benaulim that will be inspected by the concerned authorities in May.
“A Benaulim panch member obtained the assent of the villagers but there are certain individuals like Royla Fernandes, who quit AAP to join Congress raising objections claiming that this proposed health centre is in a low lying area and water body. Though I admit there are fields, this proposed health centre is near a school and residencies of villagers. If a water body exists then how were the houses and the illegal building built? They are fooling the public and don’t know the true meaning of Provedoria that was selling lotteries for assisting the under privileged people.”
“They cannot agitate by trespassing into the government land that was handed over by the government for constructing the proposed 14-bedded health centre that is essential. They are saying that the local MLA is not paying attention to their protests. But why should the local MLA pay attention to them? I pay attention to the development of my constituents,” said Churchill.
