MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday requested the government not to continue with the haphazard development during the lockdown period.
He said the lone objective of Janata curfew is to prevent the spread of coronavirus and setting up infrastructure for it.
“There is a fear and anxiety in the minds of Goenkars that this long period will be used by the State authorities to further destroy Goa’s ecology as more illegal mining, more forest cutting, more hill cutting, more land filling will take place in Goa. Goans feel the three-day lockdown period will also be used covertly by the government for the proposed marina project at Nauxim bay,” Reginaldo stated in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister.
“The lockdown period should be a minimum of eight days, take all available precautions to avoid community transmission. The direction of government leadership should be credible in order to convince people to fight against coronavirus by following instructions,” he said.
