MARGAO: Accusing ministers – Babu Ajgaonkar and Michael Lobo of flouting the principle of collective responsibility, Congress’ Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday demanded that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant sack the duo.

Reginaldo in a letter to the Chief Minister complained that his cabinet colleagues Babu Ajgaonkar and Michael Lobo have flouted the principle of collective responsibility, which is a cardinal principle in the cabinet form of government.

“They both have been speaking directly against their own government publicly according to their whims and fancies, which is denting not only  the image of the BJP-led government in the State but also of Goa,” Reginaldo alleged.

“Both Ajgaonkar and Lobo have forgotten that they cannot discuss sensitive and crucial public matters without your consent. Ajgaonkar in particular has crossed all the limits of sobriety wherein he has questioned the integrity of all the present 40 MLAs and stated all 40 MLAs are corrupt. Such loose utterances cannot be tolerated by a person/s holding the rank of cabinet minister/s,” Reginaldo said.

“In view of unhealthy comments made now and then by both Hon’ble Deputy CM and the Sports Minister on one hand and Hon’ble Ports Minister, on the other, they are not deemed fit to continue as the cabinet ministers and they should be sacked immediately,” he demanded.

This statement follows Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar’s remark accusing all 40 MLAs as corrupt and also alleging that the police officials were corrupt which led to a war of words between Michael and Babu.
