PONDA: In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has suggested strict measures to eradicate COVID-19 from the country.
Providing details of the letter to media persons, he said, “People not only lost their dear ones but many lost their livelihood due to the pandemic as the economy collapsed. Now there is need to fight the pandemic with the sole intention of completely eradicating it.”
The MLA said he even suggested various measures to PM to fight COVID and restore the nation’s economy within the next few years. Sudin said he urged the PM to ensure vaccination of Class X, XII students and adults.
While taking austerity measures, he even suggested against holding the general elections to Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Assembly, Banks and Societies for the next two years.
Similarly, all religious functions and marriages need to be controlled to prevent spread of the infection, he said.
Dhavalikar said he apprised the PM of the spike in COVID cases in the State.
The Marcaim legislator said he mentioned in the letter that he along with IMA, GARD and other political parties had demanded a strict curfew and 15-day lockdown in April however the government ignored their demand which resulted in the further spread of COVID cases and rising number of deaths in Goa.
