PORVORIM: Aldona MLA Adve Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Monday said
that the law enforcement machineries should not misuse the provisions of arrest.
Speaking during motion of thanks to Governor’s address to the House, he said, “The Governor’s address to the House has not mentioned in which and in how many cases, in which the accused or the suspect were arrested with a fanfare showing that the case was cracked within 24 hours, 36 hours or 72 hours, the accused were discharged or chargesheeted.”
“When you touch an individual, it not only affects the individual’s life but changes his entire disposition of life. Therefore, just to gain headlines, I do not think that the law enforcement machineries should misuse the provisions of arrest,” Ferreira said.
