PANJIM: Vainguinim locals have questioned why Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate has not shown the same kind of quick reaction with regard to the case of the concrete wall constructed on the beach, as she did in case of the encroachment on Caranzalem Beach.
They pointed out that the government had delayed taking any action against the wall that was constructed on Vainguinim Beach by a hotel in April. At Caranzalem Beach, the widening of a small pathway is speculated to have been done to help a resort in the vicinity too.
“After seeing the swift action taken at Caranzalem Beach towards the illegal path widening, we hope to see similar action towards the wall at Vainguinim Beach by the local MLA Jennifer Monserrate and the Taleigao panchayat,” said the group Save Vainguinim, in a statement issued on Thursday.
