MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council appears to be heading towards a change in guard with most councillors huddling together holding closed door meetings. MMC chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai is likely to be the next victim of the recent political upheaval which changed political scenario in the State.
The government’s recent move to strip three Goa Forward MLAs off their portfolios had a ripple effect on the state. The council which has been with the Fatorda Forward/Goa Forward since its formation is likely to witness changes soon. Several councillors, who have formed a power group, met in a hotel in the town to discuss the MMC chairperson’s ouster. There was discussion to convince some councillors to sign the no-confidence motion against Babita.
The 11 include those from the BJP, Congress and Fatorda Forward/Goa Forward.
