MARGAO: In order to recover the huge outstanding arrears running to the tune of over Rs 5 crore, the Margao Municipal Council on Friday gave its nod for a survey, beginning with two wards for data collection.
A Panjim-based agency made a presentation to the City Fathers on Friday, wherein the survey would cover the households in a particular ward and compile data pertaining to payment of house tax, advertising tax, trade license, signages etc.
Chief Officer Deepali Naik later told newsmen that the survey would cost the civic body around Rs four lakh. City Fathers also welcomed the survey on grounds that it would help the civic body to compile a data of establishments defaulting on tax payments.
