MARGAO: The water bill of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) is overdue at Rs 99 lakh. The Municipality was offered to pay Rs 43 lakh within 90 days under water department’s one time settlement (OTS) scheme. However since the civic body did not take any steps to do so, they will have to pay the original amount.
Chief Officer Gaurish Shankhwalkar while talking to the reporters said that the ones responsible for the delay will be held accountable as inquiry is underway. Locals have criticised the municipality for their lethargic administration and had received backlash from councillors during the recently held municipal meeting.
