MMC begins desilting of nullahs

The Margao Municipal Council has finally commenced desilting of major water
nullahs in the city.

Resources Department has commenced the work at three major nullahs near KRC
station, ESI hospital and at Old market.
Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho informed that work on the project
would be completed within five days well before the onset of monsoons.
He pointed out that plastic and other waste had accumulated in the water
nullahs, which would have posed danger during the monsoons.
Coutinho said that the city would have faced major problem had the water
nullahs were not desilted as tones of plastic waste had accumulated at the mouth
of the water channels.
