In a letter addressed to the Chief Officer, Salkar stated that these trucks might prove to be an ideal breeding ground for the mosquitoes and other vector borne diseases.

He requested the officer to clear these scrap trucks which have been lying for several months.

Salkar mentioned that some trucks (scrap and lying idle) are posing threat for the approaching monsoon season in view of the dengue menace which may aggravate. They may prove as a greener pasture for the mosquitoes to breed in the heart of the city.

Furthermore, the councillor cited examples of last year, wherein couple of lives were unfortunately lost due to dengue.

“I have been following up the matter with your good self and informed six months back that the trucks are auctioned and it is only a matter that they should be cleared from the above spot, but till date they remain idle at the same spot,” Salkar stated.

The councillor urged Chief Officer to clear the trucks on priority basis immediately and keep the area clean as the said area is in the heart of the city with residential areas around it.
