MARGAO: Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Lyndon Pereira on Tuesday expressed frustration for being sidelined in decision-making issues with regard to the municipal activities.
According to him, the chairperson needs be taken into confidence in any activity or decision-making meetings.
“However, the Chief Officer and even a few of the municipal staff are deliberately sidelining him,” he alleged.
When asked to brief about the presentation held for the council by ReCity Company with regard to garbage, he said, “The Chief Officer should have taken me into confidence before finalising the presentation programme. I was informed only by the WhatsApp message but being a chairperson the issue should have been discussed which was not done.”
Talking about not being kept on loop of a meeting held between the municipality workers and officials of Provident Funds, he regretted, “It is the duty of the supervisors to inform the chairperson about the meeting held in municipality.”
Pereira said that the meeting was held during working hours, which is unacceptable.
Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes denied allegations and said that the chairperson was informed well in advance with regard to the presentation programme conducted by the ReCity Company.
