MARGAO: The NH-17 passing opposite the KTC bus stand was inundated with monsoon water on Sunday, prompting Margao Municipal Chairperson Arthur D’Silva to inspect the area.
The MMC Chairperson promised to work out a solution to the water logging problem in a day or two by constructing a cross drain.
Though water logging is not new on the NH-17 opposite the KTC bus stand, the problem is aggravated this year with the Margao Municipal Council filling up the low lying area for vehicular parking. Work on the drainage for smooth flow of monsoon water also commenced late, adding to the problem.
“This problem will be solved within a day or two as we are contemplating constructing a cross drainage for smooth flow of water”, Arthur said.
The Margao Municipal Council had come under fire from both the opposition councillors as well as the BJP leaders for the delay in completing the pre-monsoon works in the city.
In fact, the BJP had demanded that the government issues directions to the Civic body to complete the pre-monsoon works at the earliest.
