VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Chairman Nandadeep Raut has instructed the Vasco police to patrol the area around the municipal building at night to keep miscreants and anti-social elements at bay.
The instruction has been issued after Herald, in a report published on Thursday, highlighted that the ground floor of the municipal building remains unlocked at night making it a safe place for stray animals, beggars and miscreants. Some locals had also said that the area around the municipal building was not safe.
When contacted to enquire what prompted him to issue the direction to the police, Raut admitted that he issued the instructions by taking cognisance of the Herald report.
“I have directed the Vasco police to intensify patrolling around the municipal building at night. I will also write to the Deputy Superintendent (DySP) of Police Mormugao in this regards,” he added.
