MARGAO: The Chairperson of MMC Babita Angle welcomed the decision of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to investigate into the payments made to Sonsoddo concessionaire from 1998. She also said that the MMC has not received any permissions/approvals that were sought from Fomento.
Angle said the Chief Officer and the Municipal Engineer of MMC were called by the Chief Minister for a discussion over the Sonsoddo issue. “The Government is taking the approach towards Sonsoddo seriously by asking for the details of money spent,” said Babita. “The Chief Minister and former Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai had visited Sonsoddo and the process was taken ahead back then and now this is a welcome step by the Government,” she said.
On the Sonsodo concessionaire, Babita informed that the Department of Factories and Boilers has informed the MMC that Fomento has no permission from their department. She also said that all other departments who the MMC has written are yet to revert back.
