MMC clears Garbage dump from Benaulim after Complaints from Local to Colva PS

In response to public outcry, the Margao Municipality has launched a cleanup operation near the Western Bypass in Benaulim. The municipality’s swift action comes after locals expressed anger over unsegregated waste, originating from the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), being improperly disposed of in their village.

The incident, which unfolded on Thursday morning, highlighted concerns about the inappropriate dumping of waste in the low-lying area designated for the construction of the Western Bypass. The cleanup initiative aims to address environmental issues raised by residents and ensure the proper disposal of waste in adherence to municipal regulations.

This incident emphasizes the significance of responsible waste management practices and underscores the need for coordinated efforts to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces. Additionally, a complaint has been filed by local sarpanch Xavier Fernandes against MMC CO Gaurish Sankhwalkar and MMC CP Damodar Shirodkar at Colva police station and the Goa State Pollution Board and TCP regarding the garbage dumped at the Western Bypass.
