MMC CO seeks help, guidance from 15 govt agencies

MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Ajit Panchawadkar today wrote letters to 15 different government agencies seeking help and guidance in dealing with the waste management at Sonsoddo given the fact that Fomento Green has offered to vacate the premises.

In a separate letter to Fomento Green the Chief Officer  requested them not to shift any assets presently existing at Sonsoddo till the transfer of the plant is done properly. He specifically mentioned not to shift or move the weighbridge or the diesel genset existing at the site.

Panchawadkar informed Fomento Green that their letter dated 12th February 2019 to hand over the Sonsoddo garbage treatment plant to MMC has been discussed with all stake holders including ministers and concerned MLAs and said MMC will take necessary steps only after consulting Goa Waste Managemenet Corporation, Goa State Pollution Control Board and Director of Urban Development.

He requested Fomento Green not to remove or shift any assets like the weighbridge, diesel genset and other equipments from the site to ensure smooth transfer of handing over the plant .

In a separate letter addressed to 15 agencies/persons including the chairperson of MMC, the Chief Officer explained that Sociedade de Fomento Industrial Pvt Ltd that owns Fomento Green has offered to hand over the Sonsoddo treatment plant to MMC within three days.

While disclosing that MMC will take steps in the matter only after consulting Goa Waste Management Corporation, Goa State Pollution Control Board and Director of Urban Development he said that if the government decides to let Goa Waste Management Corporation handle the matter than MMC will ask Fomento Green not to shift any of the existing assets at the site

The Chief Officer also informed the officials that MMC will seek legal advice from Adv Sandesh Padiyar to get suitable orders if required in this matter.
