MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Johnson Fernandes spent, after hearing the vendors from Gandhi Market who were served notices for sub-letting their shops or stalls, said he would have to seek legal opinion on the matter.
MMC had served notices on the lease holders and present managers of 66 shops in Gandhi Market for having sub-let the premises in violation of the terms and conditions under which the shop was allotted to them.
Most of them came to meet the chief officer who listened to them patiently and gave a fresh date to some others. “Many of them have brought documents of the agreements they have signed with the person to whom the shop was allotted earlier,” he said adding that some shops have been sub-let a number of times.
Fernandes said that sub-letting the shop was a clear violation of the terms and conditions.
, Fernandes said he would have to seek legal advice to decide upon the matter.
