MARGAO: Unleashing their fury, the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) councillors, who have gone on a study tour to Mount Abu, have called the NGO “keedas” (mites) for opposing their tour.
The video of Councillor Arthur D’Silva speaking in the MMC hall has gone viral on social media.
Councillor Arthur D’Silva has requested the master trainers to send a letter to Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister regarding the training strictly held through the government correspondence, Regional Center For Urban and Environment Studies.
“Goa is a small State and if such “keeda” (mites) enter they finish all,” said Arthur pointing out to NGO. He said that this shouldn’t continue.
“We are facing lot of troubles due to the NGOs in Goa. The NGO has created a scene that we are going for fun and wasting tax-payers money,” Arthur said.
Arthur sought the support of the representatives of other municipalities who were attending the conference. “It has been a challenge for us too and hence I request you to sincerely strictly write to the government through government channel,” said Arthur.
Reacting to Arthur’s “keeda” jibe, Jose Marie Miranda, an NGO member has called Arthur “peeda” (trouble) of Margao Municipal Council. He said, “People like Arthur after becoming chairperson have done nothing for the MMC and now we are paying Rs 1 lakh per day to Fomento for nothing,” said Jose Marie.
Jose Marie added that this council has by far been the worst as they have done nothing being in the chair.
“Since Dr Babita Angle who is a qualified person became the chairperson we thought something good would happen. However, nothing has happened,” said Jose while complaining that the councillors who have gone for the study of developing open spaces have not done anything to recover and acquire the open spaces that have been gifted to the MMC.
