MAPUSA: Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Ryan Braganza along with 17 councillors met Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar in his office, at Secretariat, Porvorim on Wednesday to discuss plans to develop Mapusa.
Local MLA Francis D’Souza, who arranged the meeting, could not attend.
Ryan said projects such as the interstate bus stand, tar bridge, market renovation are the town’s major requirements.
“After discussion with the councillors and local MLA, a list of issues pertaining to Mapusa and its residents was compiled and placed before the Chief Minister. He looked into most of the issues and we believe he will do the needful. He has already directed the WRD to rectify the nullahs in Mapusa, which have caused flooding in the market area,” Ryan said.
“Maintenance of the LED streetlight fixtures has not being carried. The streetlights are not working at several places and at few places the same have reportedly gone missing. Works related to the new Mapusa bus stand and tar bridge should commence within two months,” he informed.
The chief minister directed the authorities to initiate steps to put the town in order.
