MMC cracks whip on encroachments

MARGAO, MARCH 25
The Margao Municipal Council on Wednesday cracked a whip against encroachments from public passages and footpaths.
A Municipal team headed by Market inspector Anil Shirodkar went round the city and confiscated plastic chairs and other goods displayed on the footpaths and passages.
The seized goods were later brought to the Municipal building. This is the major drive launched against encroachments on public footpaths and passages.
Anil Shirodkar told newsmen that the whip cracked against the encroachments is part of the ongoing drive undertaken by the Civic body.
He said the drive will continue and warned traders and owners of commercial establishments not to display their goods on the passages and footpaths.
Replying to a question, he said the confiscated goods have been stored near the building and has left it to the Chief Officer to take a decision on the goods.
