MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council on Thursday elected the members for the various committees in order to conduct smooth functioning of the council works related to the civic works.
In a meeting of members of the Standing Committee and Markets-Gardens-Library, the committees were elected unopposed. The meeting lasted hardly 10 to 15 minutes.
The members elected for the Standing Committee include councillors Raju Naik, Siddhant Gadekar, Francis Jones, Vithal Varrak, and Mahesh Amonkar. Chairperson Lyndon Pereira will head the committee, besides Vice-Chairperson Dipali Sawal is also part of the committee.
The Markets-Gardens-Library Committee will be headed by Vice Chairperson and the elected members are Raju Naik, Joao Crasto, Sagun Naik, and Mahesh Amonkar. While Pooja Naik (Chairman), Vitorino Tavares, Ghanashyam Shirodkar, Sadanand Naik, and Sandra Fernandes have been elected unopposed for Sanitation and Garbage Committee.
Meanwhile, Councillor Damodar Shirodkar suggested to the council that the meeting hearings be recorded as there are possibilities missing and not noting properly in the minutes.
