VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council administrative office, along with other government offices from the municipality building, are likely to be shifted temporarily to Sada Market Complex Building shortly.
The renovation work of ‘A’ Grade Mormugao Municipality building has been going on for some time through Goa State Urban Development Corporation (GSUDA).
However, the entire administration of Mormugao Municipality is still in the building, which houses the offices of the chief officer, chairperson, accounts officer, municipal inspector, engineers, etc.
There are also offices of the Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar and Civil Supplies, Comunidade, which are operational in this building which in turn creates hurdles in the renovation work of the building.
According to the sources, the officials of the municipality are currently planning to relocate the entire administrative office to the GSUDA market project at Sada.
The renovation work of the municipal school on the first floor of Mormugao Municipality is ongoing in full swing. The school is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the classes are held online.
“The renovation work of the municipal building should be done, but first of all it is necessary to relocate all the government offices here,” said a senior official of GSUDA.
