MARGAO: One of the members of Sanskar Co-operative Housing Society on Monday stated the Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council has ignored the findings of Goa Engineering College 2014 report mentioning that these buildings are repairable.
Radha Kavlekar, was reacting to the issue of unsafe buildings in Margao published in local daily Herald.
“Also no structural audit has been conducted by the PWD officials nor has any inspection been carried out by the MMC Engineering section, but the MMC Chief Officer has arbitrarily issued an order under Section 190(1) and (2) dated May 23, 2012, instructing that the occupants be directed to vacate the premises within 30 days,” she further stated.
Radha said, “No arrangements have been made by the society’s managing committee along with M/s Pavan Buildcom towards alternate accommodation arrangements in view of the buildings being demolished on implementation of the proposed project.”
Radha, a registered member of Sanskar Co-operative Housing Society, claims certain members of the society’s managing committee are in the process without adhering to the existing laws, arbitrarily taking detrimental decisions by misguiding the other gullible members of the society into signing a separate agreement with another builder M/s Rajdeep Builders despite there being an existing agreement with M/s Pavan Buildcom. Thereby, committing a grave criminal offence as the “development rights” of this property have already been surrendered to the previous builder M/s Pavan Buildcom. The society’s managing committee is reluctant to hand over the possession of the buildings to M/s Pavan Buildcom.
“Thus facilitating grounds for litigation and rendering the occupants of these premises homeless. Furthermore, the society’s managing committee is refusing to submit the required documentation of ‘Form-D’ and approved plan as mentioned in the agreement to Pavan Buildcom. False claims are being made by the society’s managing committee that the agreement with Pavan Buildcom has been terminated and that the builder has issued a NOC expressing his willingness for others to take up this construction project.”
“Unconfirmed sources reveal that certain politicians hold a stake in most of the 19 properties around Margao which have been issued demolition notices by the MMC by declaring them unsafe,” she alleged.
