The decision is likely to be taken at the council meeting on Thursday, which is expected to witness heated debate over the issue.
Meanwhile, the municipal engineers were seen moving in the chairperson’s vehicle for their field visits.
The chairperson luxury vehicle was in the news for the wrong reasons as it was purchased by spending a whopping Rs 18 lakh.
Speaking to Herald, the Chief Officer said, “Even though the car has not been used, its value will definitely go down. However, the chairperson has agreed to pay the difference amount.”
Meanwhile, the issue will be discussed during the MMC meeting. When contacted BJP Councillor Rupesh Mahatme said, “We will discuss on the points, which are raised by the ruling group.”
Councillor Raju Shirodkar said, “We had resolved to have a vehicle but not worth Rs 17-18 lakh. We had resolved for Rs 11.50 lakh vehicle.”
Margao locals have criticised MMC’s move to spend the municipal funds on purchasing the vehicle.
The vehicle has been since then lying idle in front of the MMC building.
