VASCO: Special meeting has been convened on June 13 to put to vote, the no confidence motion moved by 13 councillors against chairman and vice chairman of Momugao Municipality.
Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes informed that a special meeting has been convened by the Directorate of Municipal Administration on June 13 at 11.30 am in the municipality. The meeting has been called to decide the no confidence motion against Chairman Kritesh Gaunkar and Vice Chairman Shashikant Parab.
A month ago, 13 councillors tried to topple Gaunkar and Parab for being “arrogant” and not taking the councillors into confidence on civic matters and for corruption. However, challenge the decision of the presiding officer was set aside and Gaunkar and Parab were reinstated.
However, on June 3 the 13 councillors wrote to DMA requesting to convene a special meeting on the no confidence motion.
Sources say, the meeting would be presided over by Siddhivinayak Naik, chief officer of Margao Municipal Council and Agnelo Fernandes will be presenting officer.
