VASCO: The public offices housed in Municipal Council (MMC) building, which were supposed to be shifted for the safety of the govt staff and the visitors, in view of ongoing renovation work of the building, continued to operate from the same place.
As per the available information, few months ago, when the renovation work of the municipality building commenced, an NGO had demanded immediate action of shifting of all public offices from the building to other place.
The Revenue Department, had directed the South Goa Collector to examine the matter and to initiate the necessary action.
The NGO had also submitted the memorandum to various government departments over the immediate shifting of Mormugao Municipal Council office, Deputy Collector office, Mamlatdar Office, Post office and other offices with immediate effect due to the repair and maintenance of Mormugao Municipal Building.
When asked the newly appointed Deputy Collector of Mormugao Dattaraj Dessai about this issue, he said since he has recently joined the office in this area, he will have to look into the matter. He also assured to give the update about the matter after verifying it .
