MARGAO: The Margao Municipal market committee has decided to inspect the municipal markets from Monday as part of a strong anti-encroachment drive.
This was decided at the market committee panel meeting chaired by MMC Vice Chairperson Dorris Texeira where it was decided that the market panel and councillors would conduct these inspections to ensure that the municipal staff and market inspectors were following the directions of the city fathers.
“MMC Chief Officer Y B Tawde and the market inspectors have been asked to issue a warning to traders and shop owners in the commercial capital to refrain from occupying pavements and footpaths in the city,” said Texeira.
She said the municipality will not discriminate while cracking a whip against the encroachments.
