MARGAO: Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has declared prominent social worker Vitorino Tavares as the Fatorda Forward candidate for Ward No 10, which is reserved for OBC.
The Fatorda MLA along with Vitorino Tavares, Alison Morenas and Fatorda Forward supporters intensified their campaign in Ward No 10 that include old market and heritage area, Modsai, Holy Spirit Church area, Old Presentation School area and Borkar Hospital.
Vitorino, a staunch supporter of Vijai and Fatorda Forward, along with Alison and Holy Spirit boys have been doing remarkable social work in Ward No 10 for many years.
Prominent resident Jacinto Fernandes welcomed Vitorino’s candidature and said, “Vitorino is easily accessible and also very popular. We, the residents of Ward No 10 have unanimously decided on him as our candidate when the ward got reserved for OBC. He has been taking up various issues related to our ward for so many years.”
Youth leader Alison, who was one of the aspirants but was ruled out as the ward got reserved for OBC, was all praise for Vitorino. “Vitorino has worked along with me wholeheartedly for the people of our ward, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has carried out a lot of work with the support of our leader Vijai. I have decided to stand with him firmly and give him an opportunity to serve the people of our ward. Ours is a heritage ward and Vijai had even held a heritage festival in the past and has been in the forefront in our efforts to conserve our rich heritage,” said Alison.
Commenting on Vitorino’s commitment and dedication, noted resident Raul Rodrigues said, “Whenever I call him for any assistance with regard to any issues in our ward, he reaches out to us in no time. This is the level of commitment he has for his people. I wish him all success.”
Rajesh Kurade, another resident of Ward No10, was also elated with the decision to field Vitorino, and was all praise for Vijai. Vitorino was excited by his nomination.
