MARGAO: Of the total 128 nomination papers received for the elections in the 25 wards of Margao Municipal Council, 17 have been disposed off as they were the duplicate forms filed by candidates who had other valid forms that were accepted.
Hence as on date, there are 111 nominations accepted and the actual tally will be known on Tuesday, which is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
The highest number of candidates is in Ward No 9, where nine candidates are in the fray followed by Ward Nos 8 and 11, where seven candidates have filed their nominations.
Six candidates are in fray in Ward Nos 1, 3 and 14 and there are five candidates contesting in Ward Nos 4, 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25.
Four candidates each will be contesting in Ward Nos 5, 6, 13 and 23 while three candidates will be contesting in Ward Nos 2, 12 and 18 and there will be straight fight between two candidates in Ward Nos 16, 17, 19, 21 and 22.
