MARGAO: The efforts of Margao Municipal Council to collect pending revenue continued as the Chief Officer along with his team presented flowers to more tax defaulting establishments from the town.
In order to mop up revenue, Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik has started the invitation regime in tax collections.
The team on Monday offered roses to the managers of the defaulting business establishments and banks such as State Bank of India, Gogol branch; State Bank of India, Agro branch; Syndicate Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Gogol branch and Bata Showroom, as token of reminder to pay their pending arrears.
Total pending dues are over Rs 50 lakh. Besides these, two more bank premises involved in tax evasion were also detected during the surprise visits.
Meanwhile, the anti-encroachment drives of Margao Municipal Council continued on Monday. Goods worth over Rs 1 lakh were seized again. Heavy earthmoving equipment was used to expedite the work.
