VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council on Friday decided to retain the old rates for the stalls at the upcoming Saptah festival.
The decision was taken during the special meeting of the Mormugao Municipal Council.
This year’s annual Damodar Bhajani Saptah will be held on a grand scale with religious tradition and rituals on August 3, after a gap of two years amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that it was decided to permit traditional fair with various stalls around the Damodar Temple for a week. It was also decided not to revise the rates of the stalls and the vendors will be charged the same rates i.e Rs 1,500 per metre for each stall.
Rodrigues said that utmost care will be taken to ensure that the week-long fair will be plastic-free and Rs 1,000 will be collected from every vendor towards the garbage collection fee.
The meeting also elected chairmen and members for five sub committees.
