MMC seeks proposals on solid waste management

The Margao Municipal Council on Friday called for a Request for Proposal (RFP) from professionals and consultancy firms in the field of solid waste project management to monitor the work of installation of waste processing and disposal facility at Sonsoddo.
The RFP also says the consultant should monitor the construction of landfill carried out at the garbage dumping site in accordance with the MSW rules. Besides, the consultant is required to certify successfully the work at the dumping site.
The consultant is required to submit the Request for Proposal in two parts, technical bid and financial bid.
Incidentally, though the Margao Municipal Council had invited Request for Proposal from companies to set up the waste treatment plant at Sosnodo, the Civic body had defaulted in floating Expression of Interest while engaging consultant to evaluate the technical bids received from Fomento Ltd and Hyderabad-based Ramky Enviro Eng LTd.
Meanwhile, two days after receiving the draft concession agreement from Fomento, the Margao Municipal Council has dispatched copy of the draft agreement to the Municipal lawyer.
MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho said the Municipal lawyer will go through the changes effected by Fomento and suggest changes in the agreement. “Only after the Municipal lawyer gives his go-ahead signal, the agreement will be placed before the Council for ratification by the elected Councilors”, Coutinho said.
While returning the draft concession agreement, Fomento had asked the Civic body to go through the agreement.
