MARGAO: To streamline the working pattern of the staff, Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai on Monday suspended five drivers for two weeks for not reporting for duty on Sundays despite working on rotation basis.
Dr Babita said, “Those who are not working as per the expected norms will be suspended immediately.”
The meeting which was attended by the councillors, supervisors and engineers saw Dr Babita taking a tough stand on the daily wage workers and some regular workers to be replaced and asked the supervisors to report to their concerned engineer everyday as how many labourers are reporting for duty.
“While we have 150 labourers on record today not even 100 of them reported for duty going by the figures provided by the supervisors,” she said.
