MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council on Monday took up the maintenance and upkeep of the 15 community toilets at various locations in the town. These are already existing toilets in a dilapidated condition and will be taken up for daily cleaning.
The MMC will be paying the maintenance cost of Rs 6,500 per toilet from August 2020 to August 2023 which has been raised from the previous Rs 4,500.

The Sulabh International Social Service Organisation will maintain it for five years. An agreement is signed between the MMC and Sulabh international for the maintenance works.
The toilets are in Peda, Khareband, behind Hotel Naz, Chinchal near ground, Chinchal, below railway flyover; railway rehabilitation centre, railway rehabilitation colony, Azad Nagar II, Monte Hill at entrance, Monte Hill Temple, Monte Hill near telecom office, Monte Hill near OHR, behind Cine Vishant, behind Apollo Hospital, near Bal Bhavan and near Krishna Temple Calconda. These toilets were unused and in unusable condition.
