MMC team returns without sealing premises

A Margao Municipal team which proceeded to the Municipal New Market to seal a shop due to some construction activity returned back without sealing the premises.
The team comprising of Assistant Engineer Vinay Desai, JE Sajjan and Market Inspector Anil Shirodkar later told the Civic higher ups that they returned back without sealing the premises after they were obstructed for discharging their duties by some traders.
MMC Chief Officer Y B Tawde had deputed the team with specific orders to seal the Municipal shops after the Market inspector filed a report stating that construction activity was on to demolish a common wall of two shops in the market.
When contacted, the Chief Officer informed that he was awaiting a report from the Municipal team deputed to seal the premises.
“If the Civic team has returned back without sealing the premises due to some obstruction, the Municipality will approach the Margao police for protection’, Tawde said.
Incidentally, a group of Councilors had also demanded action against the activity in the New Market area, prompting the Chief Officer to finally order sealing of the premises.
