MARGAO: Appealing for cooperation and support from all quarters for the segregated garbage collection scheduled to commence from tomorrow, Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai also announced plans to make Margao plastic free by banning use of plastic below 40 microns.
“From December 19, we shall come down heavily on traders found using such plastic which is banned all over the country,” she said adding that even the public should support the council in this endeavour.
She acknowledged that traders have already purchased plastic carry bags of less than 40 microns, and added that they were given time to exhaust whatever stock they have.
“The traders should not purchase any more plastic carry bags of less than 40 microns and use this time to only exhaust the stock that they have,” she said.
