MARGAO: The parking area behind the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) building will be cleared by next one week of time, and the much discussed multi-level parking project proposed there will be now handed over to the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) for execution.
Lyndon Pereira, Chairperson of MMC said this to the media persons on the sideline of commencing the CCTV surveillance in the municipality on Friday.
Chairperson said that the civic body has already taken a decision to hand over the multi-level parking project to the GSUDA, and Rs 3 crore of golden jubilee funds will be returned back to the Directorate of Municipal Administration.
The area marked for the parking has now turned out to be a second garbage dumping ground after Sonsodo. The piled up garbage over here has resulted in nuisance in the area. However, upon the highlighting of the issue by Herald, MMC began to clear the site by transporting the waste to Saligao Treatment Plant for the last three days.
