MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council on Wednesday decided to only inform the Director of Municipal Administration of certain things it undertakes at its cost to improve the city instead of waiting for the permissions that are always delayed.
And former deputy chairperson Doris Texeira was in her elements on Wednesday forcing the chairperson to decide upon appointing a consultant only after a thorough discussion.
Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai had proposed that T K Pause, a retired person be appointed as a consultant to the council on a remuneration of Rs 25,000 per month to handle the backlog of tax collection amounting to nearly Rs 10 crore by way of taxes and license fees. She pointed out that Mormugao Municipal Council was very happy with his work and admitted that she had included the decision to appoint him in the minutes of the last meeting even though it was not discussed and asked councilors for their opinion.
