MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council will finally re-auction the controversial Sopo tax tender on Friday, but a host of questions still remain unanswered, including the pertinent question of how the civic body allowed the contractor to collect sopo without the mandatory bank guarantee and inking an agreement.
Questions are also doing the rounds in the corridors of the civic body how the Municipal officials had granted a one-month extension to the sopo contractor when the last year’s contract had expired in March last.
The civic body has fixed Rs 24.81 lakh as upset price of the sopo auction. The previous contractor had bagged the sopo contract for a whopping Rs 42.57 lakh.
