MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to give a detailed clarification to the criticism of councillors’ trip to Ajmer earlier this month. Chairperson Babita Angle has expressed anger over the loose statements made by certain people to the media regarding the trip.
During the meeting convened to discuss the garbage workers’ issue, Angle also deliberated on the Ajmer trip and how to reply to the criticism.
“We are not bound to give clarifications to some loose statements. You are responsible citizen and were also a chairperson in the past. The councillors are not bound to reply to your business criticism,” said Babita.
She said, “There is no question of any ambiguity over the money spent on the training programme. Soon after Christmas and New Year we will issue a clarification in an apt way and through the presentation will inform the people what we learnt from the training programme at Ajmer”.
It may be recalled that the Shadow Council led by former chairperson Savio Coutinho had criticised the Margao Municipal Council for going on an alleged junket to Ajmer. The chairperson has decided to reply to these allegations.
