MMC to set up two COVID care centres

MARGAO: In wake of rapidly increasing COVID positive cases and short of facilities, the Margao Municipal Council has taken the initiative to set up two COVID care centres, at Margao and Fatorda. 

Both the centres will be equipped with all the necessary facilities. 

On Saturday, meeting was held here, to discuss the projects, wherein Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Goa Forward Party Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco were present. Besides, Chief Officer of MMC Agnelo Fernandes and other officials of MMC attended the meeting.

At the meeting, it was decided that both the centres will be of 25-bedded with the provision of oxygen supply.  

LoP Kamat said that he has a concern about the health of Margao people, besides all others. 

“This COVID care centres will surely benefit the people,” he stated. 

While Vijai said each 25-bedded facility will require beds, oxygen concentrators and other equipment for which Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) help will also be sought. 

He also thanked the CEO of Logistics Company Sahil Barua for donating two oxygen concentrators for the cause.
