VASCO: Finally, after Herald highlighted the failure of concerned authorities in organizing any celebration or event in commemoration of Centenary Year of city of Vasco, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has taken up a call and has decided to dedicate few important upcoming projects, including long-pending Signature Project at old Chief Officer’s bungalow and construction of fish market at Vasco and Baina, as part of their centenary year celebration.
Interestingly, MMC has also decided to restore the water cooler that was installed in 1993 in commemoration of the platinum jubilee year of the Vasco-da-Gama city.
In commemoration of the centenary year of city of Vasco, we have decided to dedicate few important upcoming projects to mark the occasion. Projects such as signature project at old chief officer’s bungalow, and fish market projects would also be dedicated in commemoration of Centenary Year celebration of the city of Vasco, MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik said.
He said there are five fountains under MMC jurisdiction, but majority of these fountains are in defunct condition because the fountains were installed by corporate houses under CSR activity but they had failed to take up periodic maintenance.
Now we have decided to restore these fountains again through business houses, but this time we would take an undertaking that the maintenance of the fountains should be borne by the interested parties, Naik added.
