The Chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Deepak Naik has said that if state government allows MMC to collect octroi duty on sale of petroleum products then MMC will surely become self-reliant.
“Firstly we would whole-heartedly welcome the decision of converting Mormugao Municipality into corporation. In fact, the Municipality is Class ‘A’ municipality and our municipality should have been the first municipality in state to get converted into Municipal Corporation. Also if Urban Development Ministry comes out with any decision not to give any grants to us then we have to think of different sources to generate revenue but if state government allows MMC to collect octroi duty on sale of petroleum products directly and not by the government then MMC will surely become self-reliant,” Naik told
