VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) workers called off their two-day strike on Wednesday after receiving their salary for the month of July.
MMC vice chairperson Reema Sonurlekar assured that MMC is working on the staff salary issue and would ensure that their salary is deposited on time.
It may be recalled that MMC workers, labourers and contract staff had gone on strike on Monday due to the delay in their salary. Workers had taken a stand that they would resume work only after receiving the salary.
However, they withdrew their strike on Wednesday after receiving salary in their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, the MMC workers felt relieved after receiving salary in their bank accounts. Some workers informed that they would resume work from Wednesday afternoon.
