Assures Goans that his govt will have zero tolerance to any form of extortion threats

Porvorim: Assuring Goans that his government will have zero tolerance to any form of extortion threats in the State, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced that a mobile app will be launched to report extortion threats to the Goa Police.

Sawant announced this in his budget speech for the Financial Year 2023-24 presented in the Goa Legislative Assembly.

“My government would soon launch a mobile app so that such cases could be reported directly to the police and quick coercive action as per law could be initiated,” he said.

There were extortion reports that two persons were approaching clubs and restaurant owners demanding protection money from them to play loud music beyond 10 pm. Following this, the Chief Minister asked the Crime Branch to conduct an inquiry.
